I guess it is easy to imagine what risk is fire on the polar station. The participants of the 36th expedition could see it with their own eyes .They were seeing the fire of the Brazilian station Ferraz, which is located 9 km away on the second side of the bay.
You have to be lucky to be here in such a place and in every clear night to admire the southern sky full of stars. Practically, whole Milky Way is visible on the palm.
Typical point in the background of Arctowski station, when you are looking from the side of bay is a small peak called Point Thomas (173.5 meters). Especially, it engages at the night, when the light is visible.
Once again we visited our friends of the Brazilian station called Comandante Ferraz. This time, we managed to take some more photos of area around the station during we were enjoying the beautiful weather.
15th of March, after almost 5 months, a double monitoring of mammals and bird on the Lions Rump (ASPA 151) came to the end. On this occasion we were taking actions to on this short time take our friends to the Station before the Polar Pioneer will arrive.
After long preparations, several approaches and many forecast verifications, we were able to swim on the Lions Rump! Yes, we visited our, both Annie, monitoring people, who have been staying there almost completely cut off from the world since the beginning of November.
